Caledonia Housing Association was formed in 2011 following the merger of Servite and Perthshire Housing Associations. With over 4,000 properties, they now operate throughout Dundee, Angus, Perthshire, Fife, West Dunbartonshire and in the Highland Council area.

Situation

Caledonia’s diverse portfolio of energy services includes over 300 supplies and an annual spend in the region of £830,000. They began implementing a programme to reduce energy costs, reduce carbon, and invest in renewables to tackle fuel poverty. As part of this effort, they appointed Business Cost Consultants to handle energy procurement and management of their utility services.

Solution

BCC devised a successful energy procurement strategy, despite rising wholesale markets. Energy costs were reduced considerably by a combination of market tracking, advance purchasing, tariff structuring and open tendering.

BCC’s management of utilities also ensured reliable and efficient control of costs, consumption, metering, invoice validation, contractual arrangements and invoice processing solutions.
