Technical Services

We can assist your organisation with a range of technical projects, which will reduce utility consumption, save on operational costs, help your organisation comply with legislation, and generate income via the sale of excess energy from your renewable energy generation projects.

What we do

We are a safe pair of hands in providing technical support on:

  • Renewable energy projects, from design to installation (e.g. solar, wind turbines, hydro, heat pumps and biomass).
  • Energy and water conservation audits.
  • Grants and soft loans for conservation projects.
  • Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).
  • Combined Heat and Power (CHP) projects and selling surplus electricity to the grid.
  • Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), Climate Change Levy (CCL), Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC, now known as the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme) and other compliance matters.
  • Bespoke utility projects.

Case Study: Maclean's Highland Bakery

Saved per annum on gas
Total utility savings

We carried out a full review of Maclean’s utilities and provided the client with a detailed report outlining areas in which savings could be made.

We arranged for the installation of smart meters to better monitor electricity consumption and aid the verification of bills. We also organised an energy survey and interest-free loans for the client, and provided advice for a structured energy conservation programme. Our recommendations to replace most of the lighting with LED lamps and to install mains gas were also accepted, and we secured soft loans for the work and managed both projects.

In addition to identifying cost savings, BCC took over the management of all utilities, alleviating the administration burden from Maclean’s employees, as well as ensuring that all invoices were accurate and any overcharges were recouped.
